Billy Perkins Joined LSUA Women’s Basketball in August 2022. He previously coached at Central Community College(Nebraska) since 2017 after coaching 19 years in the competitive high schoolbranks in Texas, 10 as a girls head coach, and amassing over 300 career wins. Perkins spent his finalbseason in the Lone Star State rebuilding the girls program at Iowa Park High School, where he ledbhis young squad to a postseason berth.
Perkins led CCC to its first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 9 title in school history during the 2019-20 season along with the regular season championship. That same season, forward Monica Brooks was named NJCAA Third Team All-American, the first player in program history to earn All-America honors.
Under his tutelage, ten CCC players have earned All-Region 9 honors and five have earned All-Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference (NCCAC) honors. He has been named NCCAC Coach of the Year twice and Region 9 Coach of the Year once.
Academically, Perkins teams have been solid with 14 players earning NJCAA academic honors and a consistent team GPA of 3.0 or higher each year. In 2019-20, the Raiders sported a 100-percent graduation rate.
Perkins obtained his undergraduate degree from West Texas A&M University and a master’s degree from Sul Ross State University.
Perkins and his wife, Celesta, who is the LSUA Women’s Basketball assistant coach are the parents of four children Tesema, Malia, Leialani, and Faitau.
